Join My Western Digital HD Media Player Mailing List!

I'm such a staunch supporter of the Western Digital HD Media Player (WDTV) that I'm creating a mailing list for owners of the HD Media Player. I'm doing this not only to notify owners of a new firmware update or new features, but also to build a large, collective voice for the consumer in order to hold a little more weight in certain issues when dealing with Western Digital (feature requests, bugs, concerns, etc.).

I figure Western Digital is more likely to be influenced by a large number of consumers, rather than just one person saying something on his own.

If you join this mailing list, I will only send you e-mails about feature additions or important news regarding the Western Digital HD Media Player. I promise, I WON'T SPAM YOU! We already have a sizable group, and this would be a great way to make it even larger.

We have already made some feature requests, and having more owners be a part of the group making those requests would only amplify the need/desire to our friends at Western Digital.

In order to join, just fill out the quick form below, and you will receive an e-mail confirmation. I hope you join!

Thumbnails are now supported across the board. Great to know that the boys over at Western Digital are keeping busy on that firmware!

@Jason: I agree with what you're saying. In order to get DTS decoding, you'll need a TOSlink cable connected to a device that supports DTS decoding (such as a surround system). Unfortunately, the player cannot decode DTS on its own. As far as the thumbnails, the only files supported are MP4 and WMV for that feature, and the thumbnails must be embedded in the file's metadata. Chapter support can be found in Matroska files (MKV). Unfortunately, thumbnails don't work in those files, so it's a trade-off. This is why I started this mailing list! ;)

I've been trying to get my videos optimized for the WD Media Player for about a week now, and my biggest gripes so far are the lack of thumbnails and lack of DTS over HDMI. Very annoying to get stereo out of a 5.1 audio file.

It would also be nice to have the Skip buttons skip chapters instead of videos.
